There are plenty of books around for ear training. I actually borrowed one from our library in an effort to train my ear a bit better, and I%26#039;d say I have improved. Just look around for a good book or something.

Basically, the book entailed chords and steps and other cool things, but you should have a piano handy. If you don%26#039;t want to check out a book or anything, just try to play two notes together (at the same time) and then try to hum each note individually. That makes you listen more carefully to each of the notes.

having a better ear won%26#039;t help you learn things more quickly. it will help you with intonation, but it don%26#039;t think that%26#039;s an issue with guitar. still, it%26#039;s a wonderful thing to do.

you%26#039;ll learn things more quickly if you know all scales(major, minor, chromatic, whole tone etc.) and arpeggios (major, minor, diminished sevenths etc.)

there should be excercise books out there for guitar

hope this helped
